Algivon 10x10cm 1 pc - alginate dressing soaked in 100% medical Manuka honey

It is an absorbent, non-adherent alginate dressing soaked in Manuka honey (UMF® minimum 12+).

Honey combined with alginate take the form of a gel. The dressing creates a moist environment that supports the granulation process. Honey in gel form stays well in the injured area.

Indications:

Supply of deep, fissure, acute and chronic wounds, including clinically infected wounds in the cleansing and granulation phase. Algivon can be applied to all types of wounds, especially wounds with deliquescent necrosis and wounds emitting an unpleasant odor:

- leg ulcers,

- bedsores,

- cancer wounds

- complicated surgical wounds

- abrasions

 Advantages of Algivon dressings:

- antibacterial effect - the antibacterial activity of honey is mainly related to the action of hydrogen peroxide, formed under the influence of the enzyme contained in honey - glucose oxidase.

- osmotic effect - honey, as a substance with high osmolarity, drains excess water, which prevents maceration of the wound edges and excessive accumulation of active substances in the wound environment.

- faster wound healing - honey rich in water-soluble antioxidants has a beneficial effect on stimulating the granulation and epithelialization processes.

- reduction of unpleasant odor from the wound - in the case of wounds with an unpleasant odor, dressings with honey reduce this unpleasant feature,

- absorption of exudate - algivon, which forms a complex of alginate and Manuka honey, perfectly retains excess exudate in its structure,

- adaptation to the wound - soft alginate fibers make the dressing flexible, which facilitates its application to irregular wounds,

- dressing that does not stick to the wound - alginate soaked in honey will not stick to the wound, enabling painless dressing changes. 

Application of Algivon dressing:

The dressing can be placed on either side of the wound. Individual dressings can be placed next to each other and cut to fit the irregular surface of the wound.
