MONOFILAMENT
Monofilament is used to diagnose the perception of various sensory stimuli, such as touch or pain. It is used by directing a thin and flexible needle to a place free from calloused skin on the foot.
If the needle is slightly bent during the examination and the patient does not feel the touch on his foot, this most likely means diabetic neuropathy. In this case, the patient should be referred to a doctor for further consultation.
