The manual covers the rules of conduct for the disinfection and sterilization of reusable tools. Following the prescribed procedure is essential to reducing the risk of infection in the facility.
All tools should be thoroughly disinfected and sterilized after each use.
Disinfection
1. Before disinfection, the surface of the instruments should be cleaned of dirt such as blood or pus.
2. During disinfection, follow the instructions on the preparations used.
3. Agents used for disinfection should have appropriate certificates.
4. Do not change the concentration of the preparation and the disinfection time.
5. It is not allowed to disinfect tools that are not rusty, corroded or those with visible rust in one bath. We should dispose of such items immediately.
6. At the end of the disinfection process, the friction spaces should be preserved with specialized preservative oil and ensure that the tools are dry and properly packed after disinfection. Then you can proceed to sterilization of the instruments.
Sterilization
1. Instruments submitted for sterilization must be clean, dry and properly packaged.
2. It is recommended to use the steam sterilization method under positive pressure.
3. The suggested sterilization temperature is 134°C.
4. Instruments in the sterilization chamber should be placed freely to ensure access to steam.
5. When performing the sterilization process, remember to properly package the tools, taking into account the size and number of sterilized equipment. In the case of instruments with sharp tips, it is necessary to maintain a distance of approx. 3 cm from the end of the bundle.
6. Supplementary or occasionally used tools should be packed individually.
7. If the packaging is damaged or damp, the instruments should be considered non-sterile.
8. After this process, the tools remain sterile until they are used again. Touching and moving sterile packages should be limited to a minimum.
