DISINFECTION AND STERILIZATION
The manual covers the rules of conduct in the process of disinfection and sterilization of reusable tools. Following the designated procedure is essential to reduce the risk of infection in the facility.
All tools should be thoroughly disinfected and sterilized after each use.
Disinfection
Before disinfection, the surface of the tools should be cleaned of dirt, such as blood or pus.
During disinfection, follow the instructions on the preparations used.
Measures used for disinfection should have appropriate certificates.
The concentration of the preparation and the disinfection time should not be changed.
Non-rusted, corroded and visible rust tools must not be disinfected in one bath. These should be disposed of immediately.
At the end of the disinfection process, the friction spaces should be preserved with specialized preservative oil and ensure that the tools are dry and properly packed after disinfection. Then you can proceed to sterilization of the instruments.
Sterilization
The instruments submitted for sterilization must be clean, dry and properly packed.
Recommended the use of steam sterilization method under positive pressure.
The suggested sterilization temperature is 134°C.
The instruments in the sterilization chamber should be placed freely to ensure access to steam.
When performing the sterilization process, remember to properly package the tools, taking into account the size and number of sterilized equipment. In the case of instruments with sharp tips, it is necessary to maintain a distance of approx. 3 cm from the end of the package.
Supplementary or sporadically used instruments should be packed individually.
In case of damaged or damp packaging, the instruments should be considered unsterile.
After this process, the instruments remain sterile until they are used again. Touching and moving sterile packages should be limited to a minimum.
